We were fortunate to have had great weather for this year’s Ag+Art Tour of Newberry County! On June 1 and 2 we featured eight farms and five ancillary sites throughout the county. We appreciate the coverage by The Newberry Observer and hope that many of you were able to experience some of the local farms.
The same weekend saw the start of the summer Grow Newberry Farmers Market. This event will continue to be held each Saturday of June and July from 9:00 until 11:30 a.m. in Memorial Park in downtown Newberry. We are fortunate to have Bath Fitter as our Sustainer Sponsor this season! Come out and meet local farmers and shop their fresh produce, meats, and plants. Meet the local artisans and shop their handcrafted soaps, baked goods, jewelry, and paintings. Most weeks there is a full market, but if you wish to be a vendor, contact us to inquire about spaces that may be available. You will typically find a non-profit vendor as well. Additional sponsors are welcome so that we can continue to provide this event to the public.
This month’s Chamber Business After Hours was sponsored by and hosted at The Aviator at their 1505 Main Street, Newberry location. If you’ve not visited yet, be sure to do so and see the aviation-themed space and experience karaoke, trivia, or just the friendly folks.
Our committees are meeting to review our special events throughout the year, and we are putting together a survey to receive feedback from our member investors to glean ideas for workshops and other educational forums that may be beneficial or of interest.
We encourage you to enjoy your summer by visiting your favorite places, explore some new ones (especially in our own communities), be cautious in the heat, stay hydrated, and play safely!
